WHAT KIND OF MURALS DO YOU PAINT?
Residential, Commercial, Interior/Exterior, Asphalt, Public Art Spaces, Other: Let’s discuss your project! I can paint on nearly anything.
What is your design process? How do we get started?
Set up a design consultation. This is where we would discuss your project, ideas, space, and budget. Next, I will design digital mock-ups of your mural for us to discuss and finalize. Note: there is a $200 design fee/deposit. This amount will be credited to your mural cost.Design Review: At the design review we will discuss both the designs and the pricing estimates. Once you have signed off on design, cost and color. We schedule your mural installation.Mural installation: The fun part! Whether it is a shipped canvas mural or painting in person, this is the moment the magic happens.
What should I bring to/prepare for my design consultation?
Bare minimum: The size/dimensions of your space, the location, whether it’s interior/exterior, a general idea of what you want (whether that’s simply a color, inspirational photos, other murals you like, or simply an idea to explain to me). A budget is helpful but not required. Maximalist: All of the above with reference photos or pictures, any themes, a photo of the space, interior design specifications/color schemes/mood boards, a budget or budget range.
What if I change my mind about a mural after the initial consultation? If the design fee refundable?
Our initial consultation is complimentary so you will have an opportunity to decide whether you want to go forward with the design development. However, I understand that things happen and, of course, we can always change our minds. Once the mock-ups have been created, the $200 design fee (and deposit) is non-refundable but if you decide to not move forward with the project you will just walk away will some cool digital art. If you decide to move forward with the muralNot happy with the initial designs? I am happy to say that I have yet to have this happen. But if it does, why don’t you give me another swing at it? My goal is always that you absolutely love this piece, the more you tell me what you love and what you don’t, the better I can design the perfect piece for you. Because I create a digital concept for all my mural designs I have the flexibility to tweak the color and design easily and ensures that the client will be able to see what the mural looks like on the wall before painting begins.
Can a mural be painted on any surface?
Murals can be painted on most surfaces. Concrete, wood, wallboard, drywall, plaster, asphalt, canvas, and even paintable wallpaper.
What if I do not own my home and still want to commission a mural?
I have had this question with multiple clients that didn’t want to have to paint over a mural later either because they were renting or they simply wanted easy removal. In my experience, there are two ways to handle this for interior murals. The first is paintable wallpaper and the second is a canvas mural that attaches to the wall. For an example of a nursery mural that was painted on wallpaper check out the Nikko Daylight Mural above. For exterior murals, marine grade plywood or sign board can be attached to an exterior wall or fence to create the removable wall on which the mural can be painted.
How long does it take to paint a mural?
The time it takes to complete a mural is dependent on the size, scale and location of the mural. Some simple or small scale murals can be finish in 1-2 days and larger projects can take weeks. After we discuss your project and budget, I will give you an estimate of installation time along with your digital mock-ups.
How much does a mural cost?
How much does a mural cost?
The cost of a mural varies greatly and is based on several factors including: size, complexity, location, surface, detail, and materials required. That said, I have found that the most effective way to price my murals is based on the complexity and square footage.
Simple design: $15/sq ft
Mid-level complexity: $20/sq ft
Complex design: $30/sq ft
My best suggestion is to go in to your design consultation the way you would approach shopping for a home, or wedding dress, with a budget and/or budget range in mind. That way I can base my design complexity on the amount of complexity your budget allows for. To give you a better idea of cost you can refer to any of the example project details shown above. I specific the square footage and level of complexity on each mural.
I have created murals for $500 to upwards of $10,000 based on the specifications listed above. Let’s start with your budget and I will find a way to create some magic within that range!
